Choices for the next book

So I just have to say that I really did not like Kim, which made it very hard for me to read the book, but I finished it. However, I can't wait until I have time to make the cream cheese cinnamon rolls!!! I can't decide between two books for the next book since next one is my pick. So I will leave it up to a vote. The choices are The Friday Night Knitting Club (Kate Jacobs) and Love the One Your With (Emily Giffin). If you have a chance to look at these books let me know which one you would prefer to read. Hopefully, we can all meet this Wednesday because it has been a super long time!!!

Wednesday's Meeting

Who wrote the blog below? Jenn I'm guessing...anyways, I agree with you. I really like the story but I just feel so disappointed with Amir. I'm hoping he will grow up eventually and make us proud. I'm still liking it though.
Sorry I bailed on you guys last meeting. I hope you had a good time. So, let me know how you guys feel but I'm thinking for this weeks meeting the patio at Bobby Salazar's on Champlain and Perrin and Margarita's. I know we're a wine group but this weather is screaming margies on a patio. What do you think? Wednesday at 7 there? Lemme know!

I just don't know what to think

So I can't decide if I like this guy or not. Amir is driving me crazy with the things he lets happen to his friend and then I don't want to spoil anything but there is a twist I didn't even see coming and of course Amir let's me down again. It is all very interesting especially since I feel like I am living in the Middle East since that is the theme in the books I have been reading and our neighbors. Anyway I want to know what you guys think or feeling because I am getting really upset about this whole thing but the main story and feel of the book is great I think. It's like that saying from Big Fat Greek Wedding; "don't let your past dictate your future but let it be a part of the person you become". Something like that.

I'm so curious!!

Ok, I'm so curious as to what book Brianne is going to pick! Is everybody still up for doing the Art Hop for our meeting this week? Looking forward to seeing everybody again.

Pictures

Hey be prepared that I will be taking pictures of us girls at our next meeting to spruce up our page with our beautiful faces! See you then!

Right behind ya!

Hehe...my favorite part was the Guess jeans too! I can't even count how many fights my mom and I got into over Guess jeans when I was growing up. (My mom is anti-brand name.) So far I like the book but my only issue is that I am racing through the cancer chapters to read about the growing up chapters. I think her family is great and her flashbacks to childhood even better. The cancer stuff kinda bums me out but overall I give it 2 thumbs up.
I'm not sure where for next week...I'm up for anything. Keep me posted.

I'm Already Done!

So I'm not sure if anybody else has started the new book yet. There were some lines in the book that I definitely loved, especially one pertaining to the "1984 pair of Guess? Jeans". Overall I would rate the book A- or B. The book has made me respect women with breast cancer even more than I already had after reading everything that Kelly went through. I also loved that Kelly was an avid social butterfly and drinker!! A glass or 2 of wine a day sounds like my kinda gal! Do we know where we want to meet next Wednesday??

Finally Finished

So I finished the book last night and I have to say that Indonesia was my favorite. I love Wayan (even though she wanted more $$) and her use of words like "banana water"! I enjoyed the book but at times I would get bored or feel like Liz was the biggest whiner ever and I would think to myself "please shut up". But other than that it was a very good first pick. I also just finished "Tuesdays with Morrie" yesterday (since I have what seems like a mini-book club going on with one of my clients). If you haven't read that already I highly recommend it. It's a very easy, short read (but almost too short I think for book club). It's depressing, motivating, cute, funny and inspirational all in one. Just in case you wanted to be crazy like me and read multiple books at one time!!! Can't wait to see everybody Wednesday!!

Next Meeting

Hey girls,
So, our next meeting is coming up this Wednesday and I was thinking that we could go to the Daily Grill (Palm and Nees)....if you haven't been there yet its a great atmosphere and they have a good wine list. Let me know what you think.
Jenn, the new selection sounds great...I can't wait to get started. See you Wednesday night!

What a journey

I just finished the book and I loved but I don't know about you guys but I kind of feel some new spirituality or thinking, I don't even know how to explain it. It is definitely a one of a kind book. I would really like to know about her and Felipe. And yes Brianne I tried to not think about the little secret you let out at the meeting about them. :-) I really wish that I could either pack up things right now and go travel and feel a cleansing so to speak after this past weekend. Or just hope that in the future I will be able to do something similar to her journey but in my own terms. Can't wait till the next meeting. Do we think we should start doing wine tasting or someone just recommends a wine, what do we think?

The Next Book

I definitely feel the pressure of having to choose the next book but I think I have a book selected, "The Middle Place". According to the reviews on Barnes & Noble it's supposed to be a good book. It doesn't look like it's available in paperback only hardcover so it's about $15.

Finished!

Hi girls,
I had a great time at the last meeting. I hope our group keeps growing! I finished the book this weekend and I have to say it didn't disappoint. I think its now officially one of my favorites. Jenn you have a lot of pressure in picking out the next one...hehe just kiddin'. It was such a unique book I have a feeling we won't find anything else quite like it.
Can't wait till the next meeting! Suggestions?

Lovin It

Sorry to hear your week didn't get any better, but glad you like the book! This is a good book for me to read right now because I have been struggling with the issue of religion/faith/spirituality lately, basically that is one topic I am completely unsure of and have never really had in my life so needless to say I am also enjoying the book. I love that the author writes in a conversational style, it keeps it funny and witty (and also reminds me of things I would say or think!). I am just envious that she got to go on this year long adventure. I agree that this is a great book for any woman to read and for anybody who loves to travel. I love the idea of Book/Wine Club...great idea Brianne!! The 23rd works for me and did we decide on a meeting place??

Perfect

So, as I mentioned at our meeting, I haven't had that great of a week. Work is horrible and I am thinking I need to make some big decisions here shortly. That is why "Eat, Pray, Love" is so perfect for me to be reading right now. And actually as I'm thinking, any woman at any stage of her life could totally benefit from this book. Good call Megan....this book was a great first choice.

The Blog

Hey ladies! Well, I finally got around to creating the blog. I think its going to be a great way for us to talk about our books and of course talk shit. I'm so excited that we got this thing up and running. I had a great time at our first meeting and so far I love the book.
We need to take some pics at the next meeting so we can make our page look official. Are we all agreed that we will meet Wednesday the 23rd. Lemme know.
Oh and since we all decided on our awesome name and that we all love wine too I think we should make this just as much a wine club as a book club. I was thinking maybe after we finish x amount of books we can take a trip to a winery for the day or something. What do you think?
Talk to you soon!
